Restoring Farfrae Jubilee

Jubilee is the other foal from the Cheeky auction and, like the others from that lot, has been heavily restored. When she arrived, she didn't have a face, just a chewed lump on the end of her neck. She doesn't look that bad in her pictures, but trust me, it was bad. I think her head might have turned out a bit longer than usual for this mold, but it is very similar to the reference picture I was using of another vintage Yearling.

Restoring Blue Street Comus

Comus is from the same auction as Cheeky and has been heavily restored, too. The colour is almost identical to the original paint, but I airbrushed the legs instead of hand painting them and the mane and tail were originally unpainted.

Restoring Farfrae Cheeky

While fooling around on eBay, I came across a lot of vintage models - there were three adults (Jumping Horse, Pony Hunter, Pony Mare), two foals (Camel Foal & Yearling), and three riders.

The pictures were a little frightening and the auction description was anything but encouraging. But...I had fallen in love with the pinto pony's cute little face and decided to keep an eye on the bidding. I then forgot about the whole thing until my phone reminded me shortly before the end of the auction.

The Characters of Beautiful Joe

One of my favourite childhood books is the story of Beautiful Joe, which was the winner of a writing contest held by the Humane Society in 1893. It is a fictionalized account of the life of a real dog and his family, the Morrises.

The Three Ages of Malachi

For those not familiar with Siamese cats, they are born very light and darken as they age. I decided I would like portraits of my cat, Malachi, at different stages of his life showing these changes. Mr. R did an amazing job translating my ideas into latex.

An Introduction

This is a blog for showcasing my Julip model horse collection. If you haven't heard of Julips before, the creatively named Julip Identification is a good place to learn more than you ever wanted to know about these latex equine models.
