Lake District Live 2022 - Friday

It was Lake District weekend at long last! Time to pack up the ponies and hit the road!

Thursday evening I drove down to Magda's outside of Edinburgh to spend the night so I didn't have to do the whole trip in one day. Friday morning, we added her boxes to the load and headed over to Glasgow to pick up Christine before starting for the Lake District.

Before we even got to the hotel, we were already raiding the charity shops. Christine found a few bits and pieces and I bought a big string of "pearls" which I decided to wear for the rest of the day - pearls go with tie-dye, right?

We arrived an hour early for check-in, so we drove along the coast to Arnside where we wandered around a bit and enjoyed a little icecream. Well, Magda and I enjoyed ours; Christine's melted so rapidly she ended up wearing more than she ate. Fortunately I had wet wipes and paper towels in the car!

After rocking around Arnside for a bit, we went back to Milnthorpe and checked in at the Cross Keys Hotel. This has been our favourite place so far, great parking, lovely room, the nicest staff you could ever hope to find, and wide hallways and doors which make it easy to schlep our pony boxes to and from the car. There was a gas station right around the corner and several take-aways in town, and lots of restaurants within a short drive.

We picked a restaurant in the next town over and had a simply gorgous meal AND we got to meet a lovely pony in the pasture next to the carpark.
